Start your day with a positive self care morning routine and set the tone for the rest of your day.

Mornings are often overlooked by sleeping in or rushing to get out the door before work, but they are the most important time of your day.

Every morning is a fresh start to create a day closer to your dream life. So create time for yourself every morning to put yourself first.

It’s okay to change your morning routine based on your day’s schedule, mood, or energy level. Creating a morning routine should be about nurturing yourself and eliminating stress and anxiety in whatever ways you need at that moment.

Having a basic routine to start with can help you stay consistent each morning.

Think about adding in a few of these steps below into your basic morning routine, and then filling in any other open time slots with other things you enjoy doing.

Wake Up Early

An easy step to starting your day right is simply by waking up earlier than you normally do. This is especially helpful if you normally have a busy work week and don’t think you have time for a self care morning routine. By waking up earlier than you normally do you’ve instantly created a new time slot in your day. If you’re a morning person, try waking up with the sun each morning. Rising with the start of a new day can help energize you and helps you wake up naturally with the sun vs using an alarm clock.

Make Your Bed

After waking up and taking some time to enjoy your bed, get out and make it! The easy step of making your bed will make you feel like you can already check something off your to-do list and the clean environment will help declutter your mindset.

Fresh Air

If it’s warm outside, get some fresh air flowing around you by opening the windows or going outside. If it’s cold, bundle up with a cozy blanket and take your coffee/tea outside for a short energizing time.

Yoga

Even if your mind is half asleep and lazy in the morning, your body will love starting the day with some movement. Incorporate yoga into your routine to get a workout in without getting super sweaty. Stretch it out and feel the calm.

I personally use BeachBody On Demand for their yoga program. They also have a great 21-day meditation playlist as well that has been life-changing. I had to search for an affiliate link for them just because I enjoy their program so much, they’re currently doing a 14 day free trial. I’ll leave the link so you can check it out and see if it’s a good fit for you.

Meditation

Everything you feel during the course of a day begins with your mind. Start your day by clearing out anything that has been weighing you down or that you’re worried about for the future. Focus on the present, take a deep breath, and create a sense of calm to follow you throughout your day.

Shower

Jump in the shower and further wake up your body and mind. Take time to enjoy the process using body scrubs or your favorite hair masks.

Face Mask

Before you get dressed or put on make-up, throw on a robe and pamper yourself. Use a face mask to make your morning seem more like a spa day than a busy morning.

Coffee/Tea

Give yourself time to actually sit down and enjoy your morning coffee or tea. Don’t just throw it in a travel mug as you’re running out the door. Curl up on your couch for 15 minutes or sit outside, there are 24 hours in the day, you can spare 15 minutes to enjoy time to yourself.

Energizing Playlist

Whether you’re staying home or commuting, put on a fun energizing playlist. Sing and dance along and just enjoy the start of another day. The day is yours to create, have fun with it.

Healthy Breakfast

Swap out that sugary cereal or donut for a real nurturing breakfast. Creating your best day starts with taking care of yourself. A healthy breakfast will keep you going through your day and cut out that afternoon crash.

Whether you create a great morning routine you follow every single day, or you constantly change up your mornings, do what feels right to you.

Your mind body and soul will thrive because of it.
