What Is A Blog? Hobby Or Business?

So what exactly is a blog??

Chances are you’ve probably already been reading other people’s blogs without even knowing.

Ever search anything on Pinterest? Whether you looked up food recipes, ways to save money, or tips to buy a house, chances are Pinterest sent you straight to someone’s blog.

This is something I didn’t even realize as an avid Pinterest user myself.

I was just searching for ways to make money online one day when I stumbled across people stating they make thousands a month from a blog!… umm what?! I needed to know more…

A blog is essentially a website written in a conversational style by one person or a small group on various topics of their choice.

There are many different styles of blogs. There are private or personal blogs someone might create for just friends and family to read based off of their travels or adventures.

Which to be honest, is what I thought all blogs were, just another form of social media (I had a lot to learn).

There are also business blogs that might be created for individuals to provide their services for others, or specific niche blogs for example, maybe a blog all about how to train your pet.

Who creates these blogs?

That’s the best part, anyone can become a blogger!

You do not have to be a writer or online influencer in order to create blog posts others would want to read. All you need is a strong work ethic and motivation.

Whether you create a hobby blog or a profitable business blog, it is all up to you.

You are your own boss and the sky is the limit.

Can you actually make money blogging?

Oh yes! Unlike a salaried 9-5 job, you are not limited in how much money you can make.

The harder you work and put your time in, the more money you will make.

There are many ways to make a blog profitable and it just takes that drive to make it happen.

You might be thinking now, 'Alright so if it's so easy why isn't everyone doing it?

I’m not going to lie, although blogging is a great escape from the 9-5 lifestyle and very profitable, it takes a lot of work! And before that, it takes a lot of learning to know what that work involves.

That is probably the only downside of blogging. It’s not a company job where you get hired, spend months going through training classes and then someone shows you how to do your job.

Nope, it’s all on you to learn and implement blogging tactics. But that’s okay and is actually really exciting!

Instead of putting in all of that time and work for someone else, you can put all that towards your own business idea.

If just one other person can do it, so can you.

Ultimately the only way to fail is if you don’t start or give up. The reason why some blogs might fail are because someone has given up on them. As long as you put time and effort in, you will continue to see improvement and success. The only thing standing in your way is you.

Sounds great... but where do you start?

Trust me, I’ve been there. Blogging sounds like the solution to all of your problems… but how do you actually start the process?

There’s a million pins on Pinterest telling you pieces you need here and there in order to be successful…. But you just learned what a blog is!

The first thing to creating your own blog is to learn about the different aspects. That’s why I’ve created a series to explain all the pieces you need to know before you start.

I’ll be going through it step by step, creating what I wish I had when beginning my blogging journey.
