Close your eyes and imagine...

Imagine waking up in the morning…having a cup of tea in bed, listening to the birds outside… and knowing you do not have to ever go back to a draining 9-5 job ever again!!

It sounds too good to be true, I know, I’ve spent many years fighting with this idea.

But the truth is, it doesn’t have to be too good to be true!

There are so many bloggers out there making six figures out of the comfort of their own homes. If there are consistently people doing this, there is nothing stopping you from becoming the next success story!

Start planning your escape

The hardest part is just getting started.

I’m not saying quit your job without a plan in mind. Just start to formula your exit strategy. Start diving into ‘how to blog’ articles and see what you’d need to do in order to be successful.

Of course blogging is not the only way to make money other than a 9-5 job. But blogging gives a unique sense of freedom.

It is up to you, and only you, to put in the effort and work.

You can work from your laptop anywhere that you can get internet, allowing you to not have to worry about ‘oh do I have enough PTO days to take a trip’.

Your blog and website are fully yours to create.

Better yourself, not a company

I don’t know about you, but if I’m going to spend 40+ hours a week working, I’d rather be spending that time on bettering my own project than for a company that gives me a hard time when I ask for a sick day.

But most of us grew up with the idea ingrained in our minds that to be successful you need to go to college, get an internship with a great company, get hired on working 60+ hours a week, and then continue to work until we can retire.

The truth with that reality though, is that we are working so much to obtain money so we can afford to travel or go out and enjoy ourselves, but we no longer have the time!

We tell ourselves ‘I just need to stay in this job for a few more years then I can get that promotion with more money, then I’ll be happy’.

We are always chasing that if I do ‘blank’ then I’ll be happy.

Then as time passes by we realize that we’ve wasted all our current time hoping to reach the next level which in return would only be topped by another level once again.

We need to focus on our lives right now!

We will never be happy if we’re constantly waiting for more.

We need to create the ‘more’ right now in our present lives.

Trust me I know it’s hard to give up your weekends off of work just to put more work into something else. But just by starting, you can slowly create your exit of out the 9-5 lifestyle.

Taking baby steps now with whatever free time you can manage, will eventually pay off when you start to find a source of income elsewhere.

That’s where blogging is beautiful.

There’s no pressure or deadline, you are working for yourself. Start reading up and teaching yourself the basics, as with any job you’ll need a bit of training up front.

So instead of scrolling recipes on Pinterest or shopping online, start reading other people’s blogs! It can be that simple of a start to realize that the dream of working from home online is a very real possibility.

Believe in yourself

Taking baby steps to creating this blog is how I was able to create my exit strategy from a job that wore me down both mentally and physically.

Having that light at the end of the tunnel is a great motivator to start something new.

If you think there’s no way you’d be able to figure out how to create a blog and create articles others would want to read, I’m here to tell you that you absolutely can.

I had the same doubts, but I realized that any time I went on Pinterest for advice, recipes or how to instructions… those are just every day people blogging!!

If I already turn to people for solutions online, why couldn’t I become one of those resources as well. And so can you.

The hardest part is just starting.

So sleep on that idea of creating your own source of income.

Are you willing to put in some time to create something that you both love and can create an income off of?

If so, you're already on the right track.

Stick with it, you will get there.
